Tour of Frankenmuth (Cat 3)

Mark and I arrived at Frankenmuth to some unwanted rain which luckily cleared up and just left us with damp roads. The race started and within a half mile on a straight there was a crash in the middle of the field, it took down several guys. Mark and I were unscathed. Mac Brennan and another rider I didn’t know shortly took leave of the field, knowing that we shouldn’t let this one go Mark and I head to the front to try to do some work and get some other people involved in reeling them in also. The peloton didn’t feel the need to bring them back. I got pretty frustrated at one point then figured ok, no one wants to reel them in so, i won’t worry about it and save my energy. Nothing eventful really took place for most of the race and it came down to a field sprint minus Mac and his breakaway companion. It was a long downhill sprint so my mental note to myself was to go earlier rather than later since it was downhill I figured I could keep it longer. As the sprint wound up nobody was accelerating so I got anxious and went and managed to open up a solid gap which I managed to hold all the way to the line for a solid third.

MSU/UofM Results

This past weekend was the road race at MSU and then a Crit and TT at UofM.

Nick Fochtman took the road race victory by attacking on the very 1st lap and he stayed away the entire race almost entirely on his own, he was only joined near the end by a Purdue rider who he easily took the the win from. I started my sprint too early and ended up 4th overall.

Today was a hilly crit course at UofM and nothing was able to get away and in the final sprint I was able to take 1st, and Nick was in the top 10

Peter wins in Notre Dame

Peter owned the sprint at Notre Dame! Mark got in a super long break and word has it Nick rode great the entire race.

So to finish off the weekend Leadout Racing won the B field by your very own Nick Fochtman. I managed 3rd from the field with some help from Mark in the last lap. Nick was basically off the front or on the front the whole race and basically soloed to victory. He has a break companion for a while who took second. All in all a great weekend of racing. Nick, Mark and I were all very active in everything, should be a good season for us 3’s.
