Why do you ride?
I ride for fitness, fun, and the people I have met riding. I started riding competitively
after using cycling to drop nearly 80 pounds and have found some of the best friends
and people I know simply by riding my bike.
What is your best cycling memory?
My best cycling memory is probably the 2010 Hanson Hills mtb race. I had a good ride
and then got to ride with Keegan and watch/encourage him to a huge win. Watching
him bounce all over the place and almost crash on the last downhill was scary and
exhilarating.
What is your most embarrassing cycling memory?
Crashing at the Grand Cycling Classic in 2008, the crash itself wasn’t pleasant and was
50 meters from the finish in front of everyone, and that wasn’t the worst part. I went to
the medical tent, talked to friends and teammates, and waited to change because I was
going to the med center for stitches. After leaving the race site I discovered I had been
mooning everyone for the last 30 minutes where the crash had torn my shorts.
