Why do you ride?
I ride for a number of reasons. I initially got into cycling to keep in shape and lose the
20lbs that I packed on during college but I’ve come to appreciate the friendships and
community that are supported by the sport. If you have a great day there are always
people to celebrate with and if you have a bad one there are people who lift you up and
help you get past it. Plus there is no other feeling like traveling 30mph on 23mm wide
strips of rubber while surround by 40 other people.

What is your best cycling memory?
Probably surviving my first gravel road race (Barry-Roubaix) on a road bike. I knew I
was in trouble when I got to the single track section and endoed in the sand. After that
I had to run my bike the whole single track section and struggled to keep traction on
some of the steeper gravel hills. I’m proud to say I survived.

What is your most embarrassing cycling story?
I was doing laps around Reeds Lake and got hungry so I stopped to pick up a snickers
bar to get me through the rest of the ride. I decided to eat while cruising down the road
and my tire got caught in crack and made me crash. So for my first crash on the road I
going about 10mph and eating a snickers.
