It was a cool rainy morning. Today was the big day I was racing in the Tour De Frankenmuth. I was expecting to stay with the lead pack due to the very flat course today. Then I got dressed and ready to go I warmed up around the parking lot with the other jrs. Then we all lined up for the start. The people running the race lined us up oldest to youngest so I was positioned near the back. The countdown for the race began I was getting very nervous. Then the race began with a sprint to get into the lead pack. I got in the lead pack and they were flying for the first two miles. Then everything calmed down and slowed quite a bit. Every now and then there would be an attack but none of them got away. We had a solid group of fifteen riders and nobody was dropping off. I was getting sprayed by the guy in front of me so I was having a hard time seeing. I would clear my glasses every now and then. With two miles to go we ramped it up to twenty-five miles per hour. We were coming into town as fast as we had left. The finish line was in sight I was at a full sprint to the downhill finish. With maybe twenty feet left Luke Mullis from the Wolverines passed me and beat me by a second. After rollout and talking to the other racers I checked the results. I got third in my age group the top three of us were within two seconds of each other. This was my best road racing performance by far.
